28 Months Later emerges as a strong possibility

28 days later

Big news for horror fans today as Alex Garland, screenwriter for 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, as well as director for the upcoming Ex Machina, popped by the IGN offices in London and opened up about the very strong possibility of making the very long-awaited 28 Months Later a reality.

Garland stated, ““We’ve just started talking about it seriously” he explained. “We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated. There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”

Indicating that they have reached the script phase, Garland went on to suggest he would serve as an executive producer, much like he did on 28 Weeks Later.

Alex Garland’s Ex Machina will have it’s North American premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival in Texas. An Australian release is yet to be announced. For more on the recently announced schedule for SXSW Film Festival click HERE
