The Museum of Sydney’s Movie Club Toy Crazy series comes to an end on Sunday 3 May with a screening ofKevin Sons‘ documentary, Toyland.

Toyland delves inside the surreal, multi-billion dollar industry of toy production, and follows designer Tim Walsh as he attempts to get his toy developed, pitching to massive companies like Hasbro. Toyland also discusses the inventors, the people who spend their lives trying to think like a child, and making a small fortune if they succeed. Sons interviews the creators of famous toys, such as the Slinky, Operation, Play Doh and Twister, and looks at the various subcultures in the toy industry, and at up-and-coming design hopefuls who are hoping to tap into this lucrative industry.

The Toy Crazy series has been screening since March alongside the Museum’s “Toys Through Time” exhibition. The screening of Toyland will be followed by a Q and A session with Crown and Andrews CEO Gerald Crown. Crown and Andrews are Australia’s largest manufacturer of toys, and have been the creators behind local hits such as Test Match. The “Toys Through Time” exhibition will continue to run until 9 August 2015.

The screening will be at Museum of Sydney on Sunday 3 May, 11am – 2pm. Adult tickets are $15, with concessions and members discounts available. Tickets also include museum entry. For more information, visithttp://sydneylivingmuseums.com.au/events/series/movie-club-toy-crazy.
