Legendary costume designer Orry Kelly will receive the spotlight as The Australian Center for Moving Image presents their latest exhibition Orry-Kelly: Dressing Hollywood.
Having crafted costumes for the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart and lending his genius to films such as Casablanca, Some Like it Hot and The Maltese Falcon among others.
Orry-Kelly: Dressing Hollywood tells the previously hard to procure story of Orry’s dramatic and rich history, which touches on his gift for giving rise to certain stars, his life as a proud young gay man and his troubled relationship with Cary Grant.
From letters, clippings, paintings, drawings, archival footage and photographs, to the spectacular costumes themselves, Dressing Hollywood is a treasure trove of Orry’s life which even includes the documentary Women He’s Undressed from renowned documentary filmmaker Gillian Armstrong.
Dressing Hollywood will run from 18 of August – 17 of January 2016 at the Australian Center for the Moving Image in Melbourne.
