5 video games we’re looking forward to in 2018

It’s a new year, which means that there’s gonna be a lot of new releases. Its also 2018, which means that we’re gonna get our hands on soo many amazing titles. It was hard enough to narrow my list down to just 5 games, but these are the ones that I know with 100% certainty that I will spend just all the weekends with playing (and probably crying).

1. Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

Anyone who knows my gaming habits would know that I love Telltale (or any ‘choices make consequences’ game, really). During their summer update they announced that the next season of this series will bring a close to our beloved Clementine’s story. I’m stoked to find out how they’re gonna wrap up her story and I’m not ashamed to say that I’ll use a whole box of tissues to find out what the end will bring.

2. Kingdom Hearts 3

One word: childhood. While I never owned a Playstation growing up, I was able to play the first two Kingdom Hearts games thanks to my cousin. I can safely say that this series is one of the pillars of making me the gamer I am known to be today and I can’t wait to see what Square Enix brings to the table. That said, I will be really upset if they make us wait another year. Guys, c’mon, I’ve been waiting 13 years now. My heart won’t be able to handle.

3. Mega Man 11

Here’s another series that played a big part of my childhood and here’s a little known fact: Zero is my second-most favourite video game character ever (first also being a Capcom character). Growing up, I had played almost every Mega Man and Mega Man X game on the PC and all the Zero spin-off games on the good ol’ GBA. The announcement for MM11 made me super excited and oh my god its been over 30 years of Mega Man.

4. Detroit: Become Human

Surprise, surprise: here’s another ‘choices have consequences’ game on my list though honestly, it was between this or The Wolf Among Us 2. I loved Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, and after playing the demo of Detroit at PSXSEA2017, I can’t wait to see what else this game has in store for us. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna ugly-cry during my play-through of this too.

5 . Ori and the Will of the Wisps

The first Ori game left me in tears. It was probably the most beautiful games of 2015 and I will fight you if you say otherwise. The design was just beautiful and had probably one of the most touching storylines ever, with no dialog necessary. I can tell from the trailer that this sequel will be as beautiful and David, who played it during last year’s E3, confirms it.

So there we go, 2018 will be a year where I’ll need many boxes of tissues and will spend many hours jumping into these worlds and just mentally processing them… 2018 will be great.
