Activision finally confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

After several days of leaks, some rather obviously “leaked “by PR and others genuinely leaked from sources close to the developer, Activision have finally confirmed that this year’s installment in the Call of Duty series will be Black Ops 4.

Black Ops 4 (stylised as Black Ops IIII for reasons passing understanding) is being developed by Treyarch, one of the Call of Duty¬†series’ most popular devs. Creators of the Black Ops subfranchise, Treyarch’s titles are considered fan favourites and regularly rank among the series’ best selling entries.

The last entry in the subfranchise, 2015’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III was one of the highest selling titles in Call of Duty¬†brand history, single-handedly getting sales back on track after Call of Duty: Ghosts underwhelmed fans and critics alike.

Activision has set a reveal event live stream for May 17 during which the publisher plans to reveal more about the game, including its first trailer but did not specify which platforms the game would be coming to. For now, all you get is the Activision blog post formally announcing the game and that sweet, sweet logo key art you see in the header.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 currently has a global launch date of October 12, 2018.
