E3 2015: Final Fantasy VII finally gets a HD remake; releasing first on PS4

Following an entire decade of rumours and dashed hopes, the classic PSOne RPG Final Fantasy VII is getting an HD remake for the PlayStation 4. The news was revealed a very happy crowd indeed at Sony’s E3 press con today.

The trailer shows a few of the staff who have been working on the new version. Yohshinori Kitase is producing, Tetsuya Nomura is director. Sony’s Adam Boyes did say that the remake was coming to PS4 “first” which seems to indicate it’s not an exclusive.

The remake fulfils years of demands from fans of the game after Square made the mistake of demoing their PS3 prowess with an updated version of the FF7 intro. The original game was released on PS4 last year, though that was really only a port of the PC version.
