First trailer for Justice League sees DC’s potpourri of Superheroes come together

One of the year’s most anticipated superhero films is without question WB’s Justice League, which is bringing together a slew of DC’s most well known comic book heroes into one film – based of course after the comic books of the same name. They are to DC what The Avengers is to Marvel.  And over the weekend, the first epic trailer for the film dropped, showing Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash joining forces to defeat a new villain, set to a cover of the classic Beatles tune “Come Together”.

Superman will also be a part of the film, though he isn’t featured in the first trailer. Zack Snyder is directing the film, following on from Batman vs Superman, which was one of 2016’s biggest hits – though was poorly received critically. Man of Steel, which launched the “DC Cinematic Universe” in 2013, however, had a much warmer reception – so fans are no doubt hoping the criticism will lend this release closer to the Superman origin story rather than its follow-up.

Unlike the approach from Marvel, this DC film will serve as an introduction for many of its characters; the Aquaman standalone film, which is currently being filmed in Australia, won’t hit screens until 2018. Wonder Woman, however, does see her headline role hit cinemas on 1st June of this year, ahead of Justice League‘s release in November.  Played by Gal Gadot, the character made its debut in Batman vs. Superman last year.

The film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, Jason Momoa, Amy Adams, Connie Nielsen, Amber Heard and J.K Simmons.

Justice League releases in Australian cinemas on November 16, 2017.
