New and affordable online service pricing plans revealed for the Nintendo Switch

Calling all Nintendo Switch owners! It’s no secret that Nintendo is yet to launch it’s official online component for its latest console release, the Nintendo Switch. That however, is now a thing of the past, as Nintendo have announced their pricing plans for its subscription based service, launching in September.

The upcoming membership service promises a multi-featured service that let’s gamers enjoy online play for compatible Nintendo Switch games, all while allowing access to an ever expanding library of classic NES games with added online functionality, with back up save data for most titles (trust me, you’ll need it if you ever play Battletoads). The service will offer up 20 games initially including Balloon Fight, Dr. Mario and Super Mario Bros. 3 will be joined by Donkey Kong, Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Mario Bros., Soccer, Super Mario Bros. and Tennis. Additional features for the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app will also look to enhance the experience of compatible games with additions such as voice chat. Australian pricing is as follows:

Individual memberships:

  • One month (30 days): AU$5.95
  • Three months (90 days): AU$11.95
  • 12 months (365 days): AU$29.95

Family membership (12 months/365 days): AU$54.95

With a family membership, up to eight Nintendo Account holders will be able to utilise the Nintendo Switch Online service, even on different consoles. The service will also include data cloud capability, which will be stored online for easy access.
