Nintendo have opened up a bit about their plans for the 2017 E3 Expo in Los Angeles next month. An important year for the Big N with their newest machine, the Nintendo Switch, tearing up the sales charts, their E3 show will have a focus on Super Mario Odyssey among other 2017 titles.
The big takeaway from this morning’s press release is that Super Mario Odyssey will be playable on the E3 show floor. While Nintendo won’t be having a traditional press conference at the show, they will be running the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 video presentation they’ve been running with for the last few years. Nintendo Treehouse Live will return to the show and they’ll be running tourneys on the floor for both Arms and Splatoon 2.
Treehouse, tourneys and the Nintendo Spotlight: E3 video presentation will be livestreamed direct from the show and fans can check that out by heading Nintendo’s E3 website. Streaming commences June 13 and runs to June 15.
Nintendo haven’t made any announcements about an E3 press conference other than to say that there would be no traditional on-stage press briefing. This is not terribly surprising as the last time Nintendo held one of those was in 2012, choosing instead to run an E3 version of their popular Nintendo Direct broadcasts, the aforementioned Nintendo Spotlight: E3, instead. That broadcast will kick off at 2am AEST on June 13.
