Pokémon Go still storming the mobile app store charts, but its many technical issues are causing headaches for many players. Thankfully, developer Niantic appears to be onto already if a troubleshooter guide on the game’s official site is to believed.
The game’s biggest issue, and one that has put its Asian and European launch on hold, is that its servers are wobbly at best and utter inaccessible at worst.
Pokémon Go developer Niantic has produced a list of all the game’s currently known issues and where they’re at in terms of fixes. A primary concern has been the game’s ability to devour phone batteries whole. Niantic says that this isn’t simply a matter of people playing the game for too long but is something on their end that can be addressed.
Audio issues, including sudden distortion or delay, are also being looked into with Niantic suggesting that the issue most frequently comes up when the device is connected to bluetooth speakers.
Some users that had PokéCoins and other micro-transaction items not appear following purchase, and those that had a post-purchase error saying “You already own this item” are instructed to sign out of the game and then back in again, or even to turn off their devices completely and restart them as a temporary measure. Niantic assures a fix for this is also inbound.
Another significant issue, a deleting of player progress and resetting everything back to Level One, is also being tackled. Niantic states that this issue occurs when players create two accounts for the game in Google and the Pokémon Trainer Club. Make sure you’re signing into the right one and the issue should be contained.
“We’re constantly working to improve GPS accuracy and stability,” reads Niantic’s post. “In general, GPS accuracy largely depends on the device you’re using and your signal/connection strength.”
