After several days of teasers and speculation, Blizzard have revealed the latest hero joining the now 27-strong line up in Overwatch. Brigitte Lindholm, daughter of Swedish weapons master Torbjorn, is a tank/support hybrid, sporting one of the most unique kits of any character introduced so far.
You can check out Brigitte’s full move list here, but to give you an overview: She sits somewhere between a tank and a healer, using a rocket flail to strike enemies at a distance but also to heal allies using droppable armour kits. Once allies reach full health, any extra packs they pick up will apply armour. She can deploy a smaller version of Reinhardt’s shield that will protect only her and maybe one person huddled behind her, allowing her to then pop a move called Shield Bash which rockets her forward to stun foes. Finally, Brigitte’s ultimate is called Rally, a move that gives allies a speed boost and grants extra armour that will last until pulled down by enemy damage.
By far the most surprising fact about Brigitte is that her name may not be pronounced the way you think it is. While most assumed her name was pronounced Bridget, its actually more like Bri-gee-teh with a hard G sound.
She’s already live on the PTR so you can take her for a spin today if you have access. There’s no word on when she’ll be moving to live just yet but we anticipate before the end of Competitive Season 9, which kicks off tomorrow.
