Sony says that it has now sold more than 30.2 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide as of November 22. The news comes as the result of internal sales estimates at the electronics giant.
The PS4 “continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history,” according to Sony and it’s pretty hard to argue with those numbers.
The total comes just after the PlayStation 4’s two-year anniversary, putting the PS4 ahead of where the world-conquering, record-setting PlayStation 2 was in the same time frame.
It’s also remarkable because Sony only announced a sales total of 20.2 million units worldwide back in March this year. They’ve sold 10 million units in eight months and that number is only set to rise as we get into the business end of the Christmas period.
