Australia now plays home to a fast-growing number of gaming conventions and the latest addition to that list is GX Australia. The event will bring the popular Gaymer X convention to Sydney early next year.
While it’s still early days, organisers are hoping to hold the event at the Australia Technology Park, February 27-28, 2016.
“Much like the amazing team in the States we’re seeking to provide a safe space for gamers, geeks, and allies whatever their sexual orientation or gender identity,” Joshua Meadows, the Director of GX Australia, told Kotaku. “We want to create an opportunity for people who feel out of place at mainstream gaming and pop culture conferences the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, hang out with others like them, and have fun without worrying that they might be made to feel unwelcome.”
GX Australia says they’re working with publishers and investors right now in order to raise funding for putting on their show. They’ve also indicated that there will be a Kickstarter campaign that will give punters keen to make the show a reality a way to show their support.
