Following the success of 2HIGH and 2SEXY, ABC2 in collaboration with Triple J, will dedicate a week of programming to undressing our nation’s obsession with the way we look. Naked As will look at bodies in all their shapes and sizes from Sunday March 13 – Saturday March 19.
Drawing on factual programming from Australia and around the world, Naked As will cover topics ranging from bodybuilding, to steroid use, to eating disorders and body dysmorphia, examining why and how our physical shape is seemingly tied to our happiness, and what social media, and the humble selfie, are really doing for our self-confidence.
Meanwhile, Triple J will host a range of discussions that aim to get under the skin of our body fixation. In particular, Tom Tilley’s Hack Live on Body Obsession will explore our fixation with body shape, and the effect it’s having on young Australians, through a live TV and social media event.
Also screening on ABC2 during the weeklong event are Australian documentaries, The Vagina Diaries and Head First: Tailor Made Bodies, as well as Australian premieres of My Self Harm Nightmare; Bodyshockers: Nips, Tucks, Tattoos; Plus Sized Wars and Tattoo Disasters UK. Plus screenings of international documentaries Louis Theroux: Under the Knife; Dying for Clear Skin; Desperately Hungry Housewives; Gok’s Teens: The Naked Truth; Glamour Model Mum and Me; 45 Stone Virgin; Baby and Me; Inside the Body Beautiful; My Baggy Body and I Want to Change My Body.
