DVD Review: How to be Single (M) (USA, 2016)

Given the combined creative genius of writers (Abby Kohn, Marc Silverstein, Dana Fox) who co-wrote this screenplay, one would have expected to strap themselves in for a solid, heart wrenching, feel good romp with How to be Single. However not all rom-coms are created equal and this would be sure fire winner, boosted by the growing star power of Leslie Mann (The Other Woman, Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin) and native comedienne Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect 1 & 2, Bridesmaids) seems to have fizzled amidst an insincerely executed mesh of confused sub-plots.... Film Review: A Bigger Splash (USA, 2016)

Directed by Luca GuadagninoA Bigger Splash is an erotic thriller that sees rockstar-on-leave Marianne Lane (Tilda Swinton) idyllic life with her boyfriend (Matthias Schoenaerts) on an isolated Italian island threaten to implode when Lane’s former-producer (Ralph Fiennes) and his daughter (Dakota Johnson) make an unexpected visit. The story here is actually based on an older Italian-French film from 1968 called La Piscine and while some of the major plot-points are shared between the two films, A Bigger Splash cleverly reframes more of the story around Marianne.... MTV reveals nominations for 25th Annual MTV Movie Awards with Star Wars: The Force Awakens receiving 11 nominations

Yesterday MTV revealed the nominees for this year’s MTV Movie Awards. Being its 25th year, this will be an opportunity for fans to celebrate and recognise blockbuster movies which have received critical acclaim. Titles such as Avengers: Age of Ultron, Creed, Deadpool, Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Straight Outta Compton have been nominated for ‘Movie of The Year’ with Star Wars: The Force Awakens getting the most nominations for a franchise....
