David O. Russell working on new TV series with Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro

David O. Russell, Julianne Moore and Robert De Niro are the latest big names to make the transition from box office cannon to weekly Television.

While the director of Silver Linings Playbook, Joy and American Hustle has ventured into TV before with projects at FX, CBS, ABC and Syfy the addition of Moore and De Niro will supply a lot of star power to the project, which is expected to hit the marketplace later this month.

Details of the plot remain under wraps but it’s been suggested the series will run as a serialized limited series, with Scott Lambert, Alexandra Milchan and Megan Ellison on board as producers. There has been no news of other writers attached to the project at this stage.

With the triage of star power and shared Academy Awards, it’s no surprise that Russell’s reps have sent out feelers to acquire financial commitment from network buyers before a formal pitch from Russell himself.

TV continues to lock in big stars for series, as Moore and De Niro join the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Steve Buscemi and recently Daniel Craig who will lead a TV series based on the Jonathan Franzen novel Purity. Safe to say TV is no longer the resting place for former movie stars.
