Entertainment One have recently announced their latest theatrical release schedule, and are delighted to announce that three of their films will have their world premier at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Now in its 68th year, the festival is set to run from May 13-24.
Amy
From the BAFTA-winning team behind the acclaimed documentary Senna, comes the story of Amy Winehouse, five-time Grammy Award winner and arguably Britain’s greatest female singer/songwriter of this millennium.
The documentary will tell the story, in the megastar’s own words and actions, of a young woman from London who came of age in the public eye and whose genius and artistry propelled her into a celebrity she could never truly come to terms with. The Senna team have been granted interviews with family members, close friends and colleagues, as well as access to never-before-seen archival footage. Unrivalled in scope and depth, this insightful portrait will focus on the music of Amy Winehouse – the driving force of an incredible talent whose tragic loss was felt deeply by the music industry and music lovers around the world.

Irrational Man
Joaquin Phoenix stars alongside Emma Stone in Irrational Man, which sees Stone reunite with Woody Allen following on from her enchanting comic turn in Magic in the Moonlight. As with Blue Jasmine, Allen returns to his homeland for his latest project with the film set on a small-town-American college campus. Phoenix plays a philosophy professor in an existential crisis when a relationship with his student (played by Stone), gives his life new purpose.
Irrational Man is playing at Cannes in the Out of Competition category.
The Sea of Trees
From acclaimed director Gus Van Sant and starring Academy Award Winner, Matthew McConaughey, The Sea of Trees is a deeply moving portrait of the destructive, redemptive and healing nature of love. The loss of a loved one leads Arthur Brennan (McConaughey) across the world to the ‘Sea of Trees’, a dense forest lapping the foothills of Japan’s Mount Fuji, also known as the ‘Suicide Forest’.
Numbed by grief, Arthur enters the depths of the forest with the intention of taking his own life. But at the fateful moment he is interrupted by a Japanese man (Watanabe) who no longer wishes to die and cannot find his way out of the forest. Pulled back into the struggle to survive in a ghostly landscape, Arthur embarks on a journey of reflection as the two men search for a way out of the forest, all the while searching for a reason to keep on living.
The Sea of Trees is playing at Cannes in the In Competition-Palme d’Or category.
