Netflix Review: Marvel’s The Defenders starts off triumphant but fizzles by its end

Four years in the making and with a lot of anticipation riding on it, the next series in the juggernaut that is the Netflix/Marvel collaboration The Defenders has landed. After two seasons of Daredevil and one each for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist we finally get the team up of the street level superheroes of New York. First Impressions: Marvel’s The Defenders is exactly the scrappy street level hero team up we hoped for

After two seasons of Daredevil, and introductory seasons for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, we now reach the first season of Marvel’s The Defenders. The series where our street level heroes of New York finally meet and team up to take on what appears to be the biggest baddie of all to date. Working on the assumption that those wanting to watch this show will have at least watched some, if not all, of the other shows that came before it, this series picks up not long after the end of events in both Daredevil Season 2 and Iron Fist in particular.... Netflix drops first official full length trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders


In typical late night (well for Australia anyway) fashion, Netflix has dropped the first official full length trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders as well as a release date. First Impressions: Marvel’s Iron Fist has a shaky first half but potential to improve

It all began with Marvel’s Daredevil in 2015, then we had Jessica Jones, shortly after that came Luke Cage. Now Netflix are about to roll out the last of their street level superheroes, this time it’s Marvel’s Iron Fist and the show takes an interesting turn in mashing the sensibilities of Eastern and Western culture. However it’s clear that this is a modern take on a collision of these cultures and bringing that to the screen is tricky and requires some patience from the viewer.
