George R.R Martin says that there will be a Game of Thrones movie

Author and professional heartbreaker George R.R Martin has let some pretty big news slip: Game of Thrones creators D.B Weiss and David Benioff are in the process of taking their hit HBO fantasy to the big screen. This opens up many possibilities and brings up a few questions. Will the movie be at the end of the scheduled eight seasons? Or perhaps in between, in a similar fashion to what The X-Files did with their first film?

Martin let the news out while talking to ibnlive.com, also letting it be known that he would not be involved in the film, for a good reason. “I have two more books to finish and I still have so much to do. The pressure is on. I am such a slow writer and the fans get upset that I don’t write faster.”

Rumours are also rampant that the movie will be dealing with a prequel to the story we all know and love. Perhaps detailing Robert’s rebellion and finally showing us just how mad the Mad King really was.

Right now, details are very loose, but Martin isn’t really someone to let such a big secret out as a joke.
