Kate Hudson to Talk About Love on anticipated debut single as she pacts with Virgin Music Group

Since first revealing in April of 2022 that she was forging ahead with a long-teased venture into music – she captioned a photo of her on Instagram in front of a microphone “Finally realized it’s time to say f#%! it and saaaannngg!!!!!” – Academy Award-nominated actress Kate Hudson has made good on her word, announcing her signing with Virgin Music Group ahead of this week’s release of “Talk About Love“, her official debut single in her soloist era.

Co-written by Hudson with Linda Perry (the former lead singer and primary songwriter for 4 Non Blondes, who has since penned a strong of hits for artists such as P!NK, Christina Aguilera, and Gwen Stefani) and Danny Fujikawa (singer and guitarist for Los Angeles-based band Chief, and Hudson’s fiancée), the latter of whom shared production duties with Johan Carlsson (who has written and produced tracks for the likes of Katy Perry and Ariana Grande), “Talk About Love” suggests radio-friendly pop through the brief snippets Hudson has shared on social media.

Hudson is no stranger to the world of music, having already flexed her pipes across a myriad of covers during her extended guest arc on TV’s Glee, where she played a tough New York arts dance instructor, belting out covers and mash-ups that included Jennifer Lopez’s “Dance Again”, Lady Gaga’s “Americano”, and “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” from Grease, as well as the films Nine and the ill-advised Music, Sia’s directorial disaster that Hudson mostly escaped unscathed; she would earn a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.

“Kate is the kind of uniquely brilliant artist who will be right at home at Virgin Music,” said Jacqueline Saturn, Virgin Music Group North America’s president and the company’s EVP of global artist relations. “To be a part of her music debut is a truly special moment for all of us who work here.”

Set for a global release from January 30th, “Talk About Love” is intended to kick off a full-length release for Hudson, though no release or album details have been announced thus far.
