Lavazza and Smeg team up for gorgeous 50’s inspired capsule coffee machine

Anyone familiar with Italian manufacturer Smeg should already recognise the distinctive, eye-catching design of the new Lavazza Australia capsule coffee machine. Specifically, that’s the Modo Mio, a collaboration between the two brands, bringing Smeg’s popular minimalist design to a kitchen essential.

And given a coffee machine is often the first thing we reach for in the morning, having such an attractive kit sitting pretty in the kitchen is an exciting prospect. The Modo Mio is available in Smeg’s most popular colours, those being Cream, Black and Red. And it’s got Lavazza’s coffee wizardry sitting behind it, pairing the brand’s entire A Modo Mio capsule range with Smeg’s retro-loving 50’s inspired aesthetic.

The range comes with a full 7.5g of pre-tamped coffee, which allows water to pass through more evenly than other coffee capsule brands, putting the focus on texture, flavour and quality in a delicate balance for that essential morning cup. Italian coffee is the focus, with extraction stretched to 20-25 seconds (more than average) for an overall richer, creamier and more barista-like coffee.

If you want to mix retro aesthetics with capsule coffee this year, you can pick up one of these machines for $349 from The Good Guys or Harvey Norman. Or you can head to Lavazza’s new online store here.
