Mafia 3 confirmed, more to be revealed at Gamescom

2K Games have confirmed that Mafia 3 is a go via their Twitter account this morning. The post tells fans to expect an announcement trailer August 5, the day Gamescom kicks off in Cologne, Germany.

The last game in the series, Mafia 2, was published back in 2010, itself coming some eight years after the original Mafia. Rumours of another sequel have bubbled up over the years since Mafia 2‘s release, the most recent coming from voice actor Rick Pasqualone back in January who hinted via Twitter that there was “exciting news” to come.

Mafia 2 was dev’d by 2k Czech who shuttered their office in Prague in early 2014. The last title that 2K Czech released was tennis game Top Spin 4 which was published by 2K Sports back in 2011.

Mafia 3 is being developed by 2K Games studio Hangar 13.
