Film Review: Spider-Man: Homecoming (USA, 2017) is a triumphant return to form

By the conclusion of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the character and lore behind it had lost all sense of vigour on screen. The film was tired, painful and offensively deplorable, so much so it managed to master what many would consider near impossible — it made the promise of future instalments as something to dread rather than anticipate. Who could imagine that could be the state of a property as beloved as Spider-Man. So perhaps due to the disappointment of previous outings does Spider-Man: Homecoming feel like such a crowning achievement. Ebullient and refreshing, Homecoming differs from previous iterations by positioning Peter Parker as a high school student who adores his alter ego rather than loathe his inner duality. Film Review: Doctor Strange (M) (USA, 2016) is visually and aurally exquisite

As we now roll into Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe we are pulled to the beginning of one character’s story. Doctor Strange is Marvel’s step back to delivering an origin story for a new superhero but in some ways this film is a giant leap forward in universe building. It’s hard to fathom that we are now at 14 films and the Marvel juggernaut keeps on churning out blockbuster after blockbuster with rarely a falter. This is yet another notch in the belt for the studio as it expands its list of characters and barrels towards the impending Infinity War extravaganza. The actress set to play Captain Marvel is revealed at San Diego Comic-Con

Quite a few names have been floating around in recent months as to the actress who would be cast in the iconic role of Captain Marvel, for Marvel’s stand-alone Cinematic Universe (MCU) film of the same name.
