Mental health and suicide awareness takes centre stage for national Q&A tour for The Promise

Led by former ABC Sports broadcaster and bestselling author Craig Hamilton, The Promise, from filmmaker Jye Currie, delves into the challenges surrounding mental health and suicide awareness.  The film, the first suicide prevention documentary of its kind, breaks new ground by weaving personal narratives from Hamilton, suicide survivors, individuals who have lost loved ones, and leading researchers in the field.  Also featuring renowned sports figures like Tim Tszyu, Wayne Bennett, and Paul “The Chief” Harragon, The Promise‘s mission is to destigmatize conversations about suicide and provide much-needed support.

Currently through to the voting round for Best Documentary at the 2024 AACTA awards, The Promise, Hamilton and Currie will further engage with audiences by embarking on a Q&A screening tour across September and October, fostering direct interactions and nurturing meaningful conversations about suicide prevention. Every screening holds the promise of impacting lives, and all proceeds will be dedicated to Lifeline, reinforcing their unwavering commitment to this cause.
