Neil Patrick Harris and Patrick Warburton set to star in Netflix’s A Series’ of Unfortunate Events

How I Met Your Mother graduate and awards season staple Neil Patrick Harris will star in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Harris will try his hand at the villainous Count Olaf, a role that previously gifted us all with peak Jim Carey in the 2004 film adaptation.

According to Deadline, Harris will be joined by the deep, base tones of Patrick Warburton, who will star as Lemony Snicket himself: the series’ narrator and pseudonym of author Daniel Handler.

For those who need a refresher, the series will adapt Handler’s series of cult-classic children’s books, by the same name, into a thirteen-part series; both following the various plights and misfortunes of orphaned siblings Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire at the hands of Harris’s Count Olaf.

However, the series has hit some setbacks with show runner Mark Hudis (known for his work on True Blood) walking out in early January. A replacement is yet to be named.

Paramount Pictures will produce A Series of Unfortunate Events in association with Netflix, with Daniel Handler taking on the role of executive producer.

Netflix is yet to announce a release date for the series.
