Pokemon Go evolves at last: Gen 2 monsters and new game mechanics coming this week

After much begging and cursing Niantic have finally given us their biggest announcement since the mega successful Pokemon Go app debuted in July of last year. That announcement is Generation 2, and we’re talking an actual Gen 2 release, not a bunch of baby Pokemon you can only hatch from eggs. Pokemon GO‘s holiday event begins, Gen 2 monsters begin to appear

Following rumours earlier in the month that Generation 2 Pokemon were on their way to Pokemon GO, Niantic have released the game’s major holiday update. Select Gen 2 monsters (that’s the Gold and Silver era for those of us old enough to have been around for that) are now appearing in Pokemon GO and there’s never been a better time to get back out there and start hatching those eggs. Pokemon Go quietly adds 100 new Pokemon you can’t catch just yet

The game detectives are at it again. In a post over at The Silph Road Pokemon fan site, a deep dive into the code of the latest version of Pokemon GO has revealed that the recently-released Ditto was not the only monster added to the game. Indeed, as many as 100 monsters from the Generation 2 era have been added to the game behind the scenes — but you can’t catch them just yet. Pokémon Go Plus set to launch in Australia and New Zealand on the 16th of September

Australian and New Zealand Pokémon Trainers will be geared up to catch ’em all on September the 16th when Pokémon Go Plus makes its launch. The wearable device will be compatible with both iOS and select Android smart phones, and will allow players to detect when a Pokémon is near without a mere glance at their phone, so you wont need to worry about stumbling in-front of traffic if you happen to spot a wild Dratini.
