Oddball surpasses $10 million in the Australian box office

The numbers don’t lie: Australians of all ages are enamoured by Oddball. The film, based on a true story about a heroic Maremma Sheepdog, has surpassed $10 million at local box offices – even beating out Roadshow Films‘ other impressively successful 2015 Aussie family film, Paper Planes.

After Oddball‘s triumphant 6 weeks of release, it is evident that Australians truly appreciate home-grown films that add to their cultural identity. The film also resonates with children with its heart and humour: how can you go wrong with mischievous animals for the younger cinephiles?

Written by Peter Ivan, Directed by Stuart McDonald, and starring Shane Jacobson, Sarah Snook, Alan Tudyk, Deborah Mailman, and Coco Jack Gillies, Oddball is not just one of the biggest Australian films of the year – but one of the biggest Cinematic releases full stop. Not bad considering the impressive competition.
