Pacific Rim: Uprising reveals its first action-packed trailer

The Pacific Rim franchise is back with Pacific Rim: Uprising, which has recently released its first official trailer. For those of you that don’t know, Pacific Rim takes place in a world where alien giants have risen from the oceans, and our only defence against them are huge robots powered by human pilots. It was also filmed here in Australia!

The newest trailer centres around protagonist Jake Pentecost, played by actor John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), who is actually the son of character Stacker Pentecost, played by Idris Elba (Luther) in the first film, who (spoiler alert) ultimately sacrificed himself for the sake of humanity. As these monsters have once again returned, Jake gives his troops a rousing monologue about rising up to fight a war that had never really ended, but had only just begun. Action ensues as our pilots take on monsters that have evolved from the first film. But you can check it out for yourself in the trailer below:

Pacific Rim: Uprising will hit theatres sometime in March 2018, although a more specific date has not yet been given.
