If you are a fan of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s best-selling manga series Parasyte, April 26th is one day you are going to want to have marked down in your diary. For one day only, Madman Entertainment have announced that Parasyte: Part 1, the first part in a planned two-part film adaptation of the series, will screen across the country.

Directed by acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Yamazaki, the film tells the story of Shinichi Izumi (Shota Sometani), an ordinary high school student who is attacked by an alien parasite-a mysterious worm-like creature which penetrates the ears or nose of an ordinary human, attaching itself to the brain and eventually taking over the entire body. Whilst Shinichi is able to fight off the parasite before it reached his brain, it remains within his right hand.

Shinichi Izumi and the parasite now live as one. They come to understand that if one dies, then so will the other. In a bid to survive, they join forces to fight against the threat of other parasites.

The adaptation was a massive hit in Japan, topping box office charts and raking in over $2.9 million during its cinema run. Clearly then, Parasyte: Part 1 is something to get excited about.

Locations and on-sale dates for tickets to Parasyte: Part 1 are yet to be confirmed.
Keep an eye out for more announcements in the coming weeks.
