Planet Earth II to tour Australia with a live symphony orchestra and Eric Bana

Promoted as “an immersive experience for the senses” and three years in the making, Planet Earth II’s stunning visuals will be projected on a giant screen, taking them on a journey to the most remarkable landscapes, cities and habitats on Earth including Madagascar, Namibia and the Antarctic.

The show will then be narrated live on stage by award-winning Australian actor Eric Bana alongside a stunning score composed by Oscar winner Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe for Bleeding Fingers Music, performed by Australia’s leading symphonic orchestras.

For one night, the concerts will be held on:

27 April at Perth Arena with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra

29 April at Plenary, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre with the Melbourne Pops Orchestra

1 May at Brisbane Entertainment Centre with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra

4 May at International Convention Centre, Sydney with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra

The concert sees is the ultimate result of the collaboration between David Attenborough’s breath-taking natural history documentarian prestige and Hans Zimmer, a cinema veteran celebrated for his innovative Hollywood film scores on the likes of Gladiator, Interstellar and Blade Runner 2049.

Zimmer said his involvement with the ground-breaking BBC series stood out amongst his iconic compositions, “Planet Earth II is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever been involved in: some of the greatest action scenes ever put on film, some of the most emotional, epic, fragile scenes I’ve ever witnessed. Filmmaking at its absolute peak.”

Chantal Bindley, Head of Live Entertainment, BBC Worldwide ANZ said, “We’re thrilled to be giving Australian audiences the chance to experience Planet Earth II Live in Concert. The awe-inspiring footage provides a compelling insight into our natural world, and the incredible score by Hans, Jacob and Jasha adds its own special emotional charge. Fans are in for a fantastic treat.”
