As someone new to the Persona series, the newest entry had me equal parts curious and baffled. Coming into a series with little prior knowledge or experience is a daunting experience, but Persona 5 had me wrapped around its finger from the moment it began. With the introduction of the game, which features a mysterious thief, a casino setting and a squadron full of cop cars, the game pulled off its greatest heist – it stole my heart. Berserk and the Band of the Hawk bases its narrative on the popular and long-running manga series of the same name. It’s only natural that such a franchise would eventually be adopted into the gaming sphere. Further, Berserk‘s gory and action-oriented nature seem like they’d be the perfect ingredients for a Dynasty Warriors style beat ’em up, however there is definitely more style here than there is substance. That’s a shame, because there are sections of this title well worth playing, but the rest is plagued with repetition. It’s been a while since Telltale Games have visited The Walking Dead franchise, but they certainly haven’t been slacking off. It seems everybody with an established universe wants Telltale to, er…tell a tale using their signature style.
