Program announced for annual Meatstock Sydney festival

The mighty Meatstock, one of Sydney’s most popular food festivals, is entering into its fifth year as it plans a massive return to Sydney Showgrounds. The annual carnivore carnival, now stretched to three days of bottomless BBQ, bands and booze, has a few new changes in store as well.

In addition to the now classic mix of live entertainment, smokin’ food, free rides, BBQ comps, and live art, the festivals first day – Friday 1st May – will introduce the inaugural “Rock and Stock”. Conceived as a showcase for live music and food trucks, the program will feature big-ticket acts like Screaming Jets, Black Sorrows, Tim Rogers, and – on the weekend – Spiderbait, Cooking on Three Burners, Jesse Redwing and more.

As far as BBQ goes, Daniel Lee from Pitmasters Brazil will be flying in as a special guest, appearing alongside the likes of Helo Palacio, freelance photographer Robert Jacob Lerma, and more.

Of course, food will be absolutely everywhere, showcasing various BBQ techniques along with Australian produce and drinks from Yak Brewing and Sailor Jerry.

The A&E Sausage Sizzle eating competition for pros and amateurs alike should be a hit, with the prizes being $1.5k in cash amongst others. The usual “Barbecue Wars” and “Butcher Wars” are also back for a fighting chance to win $15k in cash and prizes.
