The Razer Core X will let you turn your laptop into a desktop gaming rig (with a couple of caveats)

It doesn’t take long for a laptop, even one in the gaming tier, to start feeling long in the tooth. On the PC, there’s no upper limit on the hardware required for optimal gaming performance, and this is often to the laptop’s detriment. Razer’s Core series has been trying to find a workaround for that for a few years now, creating external graphics card cages that let you give your laptop a shot in the arm. That hardware series is about to come back with a bit of a refresh — the Razer Core X. The new Razer Blade laptop is their thinnest and fastest yet

Hardware and peripheral maker Razer have made a name for themselves in the gaming PC market in the last decade, giving competitors like Alienware a run for money with high-end hardware and sleek exterior design. Another year means a product refresh and the 2018 Razer Blade is here. At 15.6″ and 0.66″, it’s Razer’s thinnest 15-incher yet, but don’t its small stature fool you into thinking they’ve had to skimp on specs. Tech Review: Razer Nommo Chroma 2.0 Desk Speakers: The sound of cannonfire

You review enough gadgets and speakers and eventually you get a sense for The Order of Things. You can tell a lot about a device just from looking at the promo images — you get an idea of their size, the design philosophy and where their predicted strengths and weaknesses will lie. And sometimes they arrive and you realise that you’re maybe not as smart as you thought you were. Continue reading Tech Review: Razer Nommo Chroma 2.0 Desk Speakers: The sound of cannonfire

Tech Review: Razer Electra V2 USB Gaming Headset: Back to basics and a step forward

When it comes to gaming headphones, Razer’s cans have never been my favourites. They’ve always been clunky, heavy things with sound that rarely came close to meeting my expectations. I wanted to put all that on front street because, if the Electra V2 is any indication, Razer’s headset efforts might have finally found their groove at last. Tech Review: Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition PC/Xbox One Controller: Pushing your buttons

When I was a kid, third party controllers were to be scoffed at. There was always one janky unofficial controller in the set that no-one wanted to use on Multiplayer Night. Times have changed though and the third-party peripheral market has never been quite this robust. Razer’s latest tilt at a high quality controller  is an interesting one — the Wolverine Tournament Edition is a controller built for PC and Xbox One users alike but with high-tier esports play in mind. Tech Review: Razer Seiren Elite USB Digital Microphone: Great sound comes at a price

Is there anything Razer can’t do? Any demographic of gamer for whom they can’t accommodate? One of the peripheral giant’s latest pushes has been into the still-rapidly growing broadcaster market. People looking to get started on  Twitch are always in search of the right gear and Razer are ready with an array of toys purpose-built for high quality live streaming. The Razer Seiren Elite microphone is one of the most recent additions to the hardware maker’s growing stable of broadcast tools and is easily one of its best. This triple-monitor Razer gaming laptop is a thing that actually exists

There are certain things you can rely on from a gigantic tech show like CES — hilariously large TV’s, lavishly appointed electric cars that malfunction onstage, long segments of glitzy big brand press conferences trying to make washing machines seem cool. And then, every year, there’s The Homer. This year, Razer have gone above and beyond in The Homer category with the triple-screen monstrosity pictured above.
