Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling in talks to join Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time film adaptation

Reported by Variety, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling have been in talks with the Disney folk to join upcoming adaptation film A Wrinkle in Time. It is the first book of the Time Quartet book series written by author Madeleine L’Engle.

Ava DuVernay has also agreed to direct the title with Oprah Winfrey joining the cast too. Jennifer Lee will be writing the script and is known for her previous work on Frozen.

The plot focuses on the children time-travelling together through strange worlds in search of their missing scientist father. Witherspoon will be playing the character of Mrs. Whatsit who is a former celestial but has a strong appearance of an old woman. Kaling will be playing the role of Mrs. Who with Winfrey acting as Mrs. Which.

So far Witherspoon and Kaling have been busy working on other projects. Witherspoon recently wrapped up production for HBO’s Big Little Lies and will begin shooting Home Again this season. Kaling voiced the character Disgust on last year’s Oscar-winning flick Inside Out and has also been working as the star of TV sitcom The Mindy Project. She is also preparing for the upcoming female-version of Ocean’s 11 titled Ocean Ocho.
