On Monday (November 28) morning, HOYTS cinemas witnessed a huge uptake on ticket sales as soon as presales became available for highly-anticipated film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Due to high demand, HOYTS have been putting together additional sessions for the film title. HOYTS Belconnen are up to their fourth midnight session to keep up with ticket demands from fans.
In addition, Event Cinemas were getting slammed with ticket sales on their end too. 10 minutes after tickets went on sale, 8,000 tickets were sold (roughly 800 tickets per minute). More than 30 Gold Class Sessions are already sold out (this included 8 midnight sessions in the first 30mins) with Vmax 3D selling fast too.
Of course, fans took to social media sharing their excitement of successfully securing tickets, with one fan saying, “#RogueOne IMAX tickets secured for midnight! Nice work @HOYTSAUSTRALIA!”
HOYTS General Manager (Programming & Content), Michelle Gater says, “At last count HOYTS has over 5,000 sessions scheduled for the opening week of release.” said Michelle Gater, HOYTS General Manager – Programming & Content. “Our flagship cinema HOYTS Chadstone has seen huge ticket sales and with just over two weeks to go until release it’s exciting to see how eager fans are to secure tickets.”
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be screening nationally on December 15, 2016.
