Supanova Interview: Gaming God Nolan North talks about his beginning, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and clowns

I shouldn’t have to say who Nolan North is, but for those few uninitiated, if you have ever played a video game in the last 25 years, there is a very big chance Nolan North voiced something or someone in that game. Nolan has been around the TV, Film and Gaming industry since 1997, first starring in General Hospital and Port Charles on TV and then lending his voice to his very first video game in Activision’s Interstate 82. Move forward over 20 years and now Nolan has become a video game icon and a gaming household name.... Continue Reading

Film Review: Deadpool 2 (USA, 2018) Gives Us The Merc With The Mouth And A Warm Fuzzy Heart

Considering the risks 20th Century Fox took in greenlighting Deadpool, the 2016 film was released and became a global success, it seemed the risk now fell on the shoulders of its sequel. Deadpool 2 markets itself as “it feels bigger” and in some ways this is true and in others it’s not. The film leans heavily into its overt crassness, gore and ridiculousness but also comes away with some surprising character development and warmth for our merc with the mouth. Film Review: The Hitman’s Bodyguard (USA, 2017) is a funny, familiar buddy-cop ride

Sometimes it’s not always necessary for a film to be unique or spectacular or innovative for it to be enjoyable. Sometimes all we need is for it to be fun and ridiculous and easily digestible for it to provide that escapism. Film Review: Life (USA, 2017) hits all the beats we’re used to but in a more polished container

One day Hollywood might be able to come up with a new science fiction movie that has us discovering a fluffy cute adorable friendly alien. One day Hollywood might be able to come up with a group of characters who actually have character development, prior to being ruthlessly dispatched. One day Hollywood might be able to stop cloning itself and come up with some new, fresh and original ideas. But today is not that day. So if you are OK with the idea of something that’s a bit like Alien meets Event Horizon meets Gravity then you will probably enjoy Life.... Continue Reading

Blu-Ray Review: Deadpool (MA15+, USA, 2016)

For a while there it looked like the only version of Deadpool we’d ever see on the big screen was the somewhat cringe-inducing one we saw in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Studio execs at Fox were unsure about how to move forward with the character and make it a viable film. But when some test footage got leaked online back in 2012 much to the surprise and rapture of fans the execs finally decided to push forward. Now some 4 years later we finally have the finished product. In the lead up there’s been a prolific marketing campaign full of gag infused trailers and promo spots, but can it truly live up to all the hype?... Continue Reading
