San Andreas sequel in the works with Dwayne Johnson returning

Sequel to last year’s hit disaster film San Andreas has now been confirmed with majority of cast and crew expected to return.

Dwayne Johnson will be returning along with producer Beau Flynn and director Brad Peyton. Neil Widener and Gavin James have been brought on board to write the script for the sequel.

We can also expect the return of Carla Gugino as Emma Gaines, and Alexandra Daddario as Blake Gaines and Paul Giamatti as the seismologist Dr Hayes.

The $473m box office feature saw lead Johnson as a search and rescue helicopter pilot who teamed up with his estranged wife Carla Gugino to save their daughter, Alexandra Daddario, when a series of quakes hit Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Plot details for the sequel have been kept on the down low, but word has it that the story will be expanding onto global scales, revolving around the infamous Ring of Fire in the Pacific Ocean, home to 90% of the world’s earthquakes.

The details on the release date have yet to be announced.
