I am still waiting for my dream Batman game to materialise. This non-existent game would essentially be LA Noire and the Batman IP draped over it, steeped in the World’s Greatest Detective side of the character moreso than the Caped Crusader. I am fully aware that it would probably sell about four copies. Throughout Batman: The Telltale Series, and here again in the first episode of its sequel, Batman: The Enemy Within – The Telltale Series, it feels at times like that’s the Batman game Telltale would quite like to make too. Continue reading Video Games Review: Batman: The Enemy Within – Ep. 1 (PC, 2017) sets a grim, complex tone for Season 2
Telltale’s Guardians of The Galaxy is finally back. Episodes of this season have been released quite far apart — it will be another month or so before Episode 4 drops and then the Episode 5 finale will release towards the end of the year. Episodes 2 and 3 are now available, however, and we’ve happily dug into them. Continue reading Video Games Review: Guardians of The Galaxy: The Telltale Series – Eps 2 and 3 help the season finally find its rhythm
The time has arrived. Telltale’s ambitious third season of their critically acclaimed Walking Dead series has come to a close with From the Gallows. Question is, did it capitalise on its rising tension, fleshed out characters and bold new narrative?... Continue Reading
Perhaps I was a little harsh in my review of Above the Law. If Telltale’s Walking Dead games were judged on their level of interaction, then they would probably garner average scores across the board. I still maintain that the last episode served as a major turning point and definitely felt like the culmination of what has been in motion for quite a while – Telltale might finally be ‘settling in’, at least with their Walking Dead games. This might be their MO going forward, but while Thicker than Water didn’t quite make me eat my words it certainly got me to substitute them with more favourable ones. To simplify, maybe I finally ‘get it’.

Telltale Games is back, baby! I know, they seem to be back every few months but this time they’re bringing the flavour of the month — Guardians of The Galaxy! This is a story based not on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s band of misfits but directly from the pages of their long-running comic book. So yeah, their aesthetic is a little different from that of the films and that sort of helps because they also sound different (except Rocket Raccoon, Nolan North does a damn near spot on impression of Bradley Cooper’s take on the character). PlayStation have announced the titles that will be free for PS Plus subscribers in May and dang, this month is bringing the goods. Continue reading May’s free PlayStation Plus titles are rad as hell and you should get them
Following last episodes tragic conclusion, Ties That Bind: Part II opened fairly solemnly in comparison. But that was about the quietest the second instalment got as it rounded out its two hour play time with twists and healthy does of action. Continue reading Video Game Review: The Walking Dead: A New Frontier – Ties That Bind: Part II (PS4, 2017) puts character ahead of action and wins big
Telltale Games have released a number of screens from their forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy adventure title, their first in conjunction with Marvel Comics, but acknowledge that their story is entirely separate from the popular Marvel Studios films. Continue reading Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be unrelated to the films, PAX East trailer likely
Lets face it. While Telltale’s three-part Michonne series was an enjoyable enough romp, it could be argued that it’s existence served as a means to placate gamers until the main event rolled along. Because for all of Telltale’s impressive takes on pop culture’s most iconic franchises (Game of Thrones, Minecraft, Batman) their Walking Dead games are unequivocally their premier product.
