Tom Cruise and the cast and director of The Mummy talk “Dark Universe” and the film at public Q&A in Sydney

On Tuesday, at Sydney’s World Square, a giant, hand carved Sarcophagus sculpture, build entirely out of sand, was unveiled. Taking 250 man hours to create, it’s reveal was certainly a cause for celebration, so the cast of the film it was inspired by – The Mummy – popped by to show it off and answer a bit of a Q&A along the way. Hollywood came to Sydney last night as the stars of Universal’s The Mummy held its Australian premiere at the iconic State Theatre. Stars Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis were joined by director Alex Kurtzman as they told the attending audience they “hoped the movie scared the shit out of them”. The Mummy reboot gets its first trailer as the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe officially launches

Another year, another new franchise reboot. This time it’s for The Mummy, following on from the Brendan Fraser fronted trilogy of the same name. Directed by Alex Kurtzman (People Like Us), this time around the series will star Tom Cruise as our lead, Nick Morton, with Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) as “The Mummy” and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll. Film Review: Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016) proves a predictable, dry and by-the-numbers sequel

Based on the 18th book in the series by Lee Child and a follow-up to 2012’s Jack Reacher, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back sees the titular brooding anti-hero (Tom Cruise) roll into DC for a date with Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders) only to find her imprisoned on espionage charges.
