Ewen Bremner is a calm and thought provoking actor who has seen a broad variety of roles over the years in stage, TV (My Name is Earl, The Lost Room) and the silver screen (Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, Trainspotting 1 & 2, Wonder Woman). Some of the best characters Ewen portrays are very left of normal, with the success of those portrayals thanks to a gift of balancing gritty character drama and a great sense of humour. Film Review: T2 Trainspotting (UK, 2017) sees Danny Boyle uses nostalgia to great effect

How T2 Trainspotting juggles change and continuity is quite extraordinary. In a world of disappointing reboots and sequels that don’t quite justify their existence, Danny Boyle’s follow-up to his drug-addled 1996 icon is not only good, it’s damn near perfect, complementing the first without repeating it as we catch up with Renton (Ewan McGregor), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and – yep – Begbie (Robert Carlyle) 20 years after Renton split with the bag full of drug money. For this overdue revisit, Boyle looks to Irvine Welsh’s ill-received Porno but doesn’t quite follow the novel to a tee, instead he and returning screenwriter John Hodge use their very welcome judgement to piece together a story that should go far in satisfying Trainspotting’s enormous cult following.... Director Danny Boyle to make Trainspotting sequel his next project

1996 classic Trainspotting, a landmark achievement in raw British cinema, has remained the crowning achievement of Director Danny Boyle. Adapted from Irvine Welsh’s novel of the same name almost two decades ago, the black comedy is a reference point for the careers of all involved, particularly Ewan McGregor who played Renton, one of the four lead characters in the intense, drug-fueled film.
