Travelling Film Festival announces February 2017 programs in Alice Springs, Darwin and Katherine

The Travelling Film Festival (the longest one of its kind) showcases Australian and international features, documentaries and short films which screen in areas that have limited theatrical screening opportunities. With a number of destinations already confirmed, TFF have now added Darwin, Alice Springs and Katherine to their list of stops in February.

First up Darwin (3-5 February) will see a total of nine films screened. Up for Love, starring Oscar winning Jean Dujardin (The Artist), and Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival 2016 Best Actress Virginie Efira will lead the event. A remake of the Argentinian comedy Corazón de LeónUp for Love is about a couple trying to find love in a world of petty intolerance.

The complete line-up for Darwin includes Up for Love, Like Crazy, The Eagle Huntress, Graduation, The Salesman, Toni Erdmann, The Family Fang,  I, Daniel Blake and The Commune.

Running from February 3-5, Katherine will host six films led by Jasper Jones starring mega stars Hugo Weaving and Toni Collette. The thriller sees Charlie Bucktin, a bookish boy of 14, who strikes up a friendship with the titular character Jasper Jones, a mixed race outcast who discovers the dead body of a young woman; an event that will expose the racism and division within their country WA town in the summer of 1965.

The complete line-up for Katherine includes Jasper Jones, Up for Love, Like Crazy, The Eagle Huntress, Graduation and The Salesman.

The final stop on this leg of the Northern Territory will be Alice Springs which will run from February 17-20. This will be headlined by Australian documentary Hotel Coolgardie which was nominated at Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival. Helmed by Pete Gleeson, Hotel Coolgardie follows two female Finnish backpackers during a three-month stint of work at a remote WA pub, who encounter a bullying boss and some colourful characters from the local community.

The complete line-up for Alice Springs will include Hotel Coolgardie, Jasper Jones, The Family Fang, Paterson, Graduation, The Salesman, I, Daniel Blake, Up for Love, Like Crazy and The Eagle Huntress.
