Underground Spirits Australia announced the launch of their limited-edition Coronation Gin during a cocktail event in honour of World Caramel Day. With notes of sweet orange, maple syrup and coconut, among others, this intricately crafted gin adopts flavours from across the Commonwealth countries.
The Coronation Gin will be officially unveiled at the 2023 Sydney Royal Easter Show, where you will be able to sample this new offering from the Canberra based distillery.
Underground’s gin range utilises core botanicals of Juniper, Coriander Seed & Angelica Root, while taking advantage of native and local botanicals to represent the best of Canberra and Australia.
The cocktail event, hosted at the beautiful rooftop bar at Little National Hotel in Sydney’s Wynyard Station on Clarence Street, also signified a partnership between the two businesses. Underground Spirits will now be stocked behind the bar at both the Little National Hotel in Sydney and Canberra, with their signature Caramel Espresso Martini on tap.
While enjoying views of the city from this prime location, we were treated to these decadent martinis, made with Underground’s one-of-a-kind Caramel Vodka, as well as a Red Caramel Lightning which combined Caramel Vodka, Vermouth and muddled raspberries. The crowning glory however, was the classic Gin and Tonic which was made with the new Coronation Gin. Fresh and light, it danced on the tongue and was a flavourful twist on a classic cocktail.
What sets Underground Spirits apart is their unique sub zero, sub micron cryofiltration process which was developed after much experimentation and eliminates impurities for a smooth finish across all spirits produced.
Smooth is definitively the word to describe the cocktails on offer, with the Coronation Gin a clear favourite.
