World of Tanks just dropped a new Australian tank onto the battlefield

We love it when esoteric Australiana finds its way into our entertainment. Take World of Tanks for example. After unleashing the AC1 Cruiser MK1 Sentinel into the game back in 2016, Wargaming now turns to another Australian tank — the Centurion Mk. V, the shuddering workhorse deployed in the Vietnam War. I am not a military or war history buff. I know a number of guys who can wax rhapsodic about certain World War II weapons and vehicles in the same way many of us can enthuse about our favourite pop-culture artifacts, but I’ve never really understood what it was about these machines that captured their imagination. Video Games Interview: Jeff Gregg chats about World of Tanks arriving on PS4

It looks good and it plays better than it’s predecessors; World of Tanks, Wargaming’s multiplayer phenomenon, has now gone live on Playstation 4, free to play for anyone with a Playstation account irrespective of whether or not they subscribe to Playstation Plus (although the “Plus” members had access to a premium bundle on launch). Maintaining its “free-to-play” philosophy, the game can be downloaded and played instantly with 15v15 online tank warfare, bringing in a tech tree of over 140 historically-accurate, mid-20th century vehicles from the USA, Germany, and the USSR for use during the game.
