Flawless Victories: The history of Mortal Kombat and Injustice 2‘s NetherRealm Studios

I remember the first time I played Mortal Kombat, or at least I vaguely recall its influence and how ahead of its time it seemed to be. I remember how real it looked and sounded. I remember having the fatality codes tucked in its Mega Drive case in a time before the internet. But most of all, not really having any sense of what success and legacies were, I still remember that developer Midway’s merciless brawler was something special. Something groundbreaking that was changing the way we thought about video games. But I don’t remember ever thinking that we’d still be talking about Mortal Kombat and its creators as something relevant 25 years down the line. Did any of us? Warner Bros. takes “full control” of Machinima under new acquisition deal

Warner Bros. have announced overnight that they have acquired gaming fan site Machinima. The deal sees Machinima join Warner Bros. Film Review: Suicide Squad (M) (USA, 2016)

The DC Comics Extended Universe (aka DCEU) has a bit of catching up to do if it wants to level up to its competitor Marvel. Even though DC has some of the more renowned superheroes in its deck of cards – Superman and Batman being two aces – it hasn’t had as much luck with its film adaptations recently of those characters. So taking a gamble, they opted to go with showcasing some villains instead. The result is Suicide Squad, a film about the worst of the worst who thankfully turn out to be the best choice.
