No Activity receives its US remake; so is it any good?

When streaming service Stan launched in Australia in 2015, one of the first great originals we received was the all Australian comedy No Activity, written and directed by Trent O’Donnell (New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine). It was a bloody good selling point for the then, limited content streaming service… well, that and the Wolf Creek TV Series! As with anything great, the mighty U.S of A needs a good old fashion remake of their own right?... Continue Reading

Film Review: Daddy’s Home 2 (USA, 2017) is an unnecessary sequel constricted by its family-friendly mentality

Who ever would’ve thought the day would come that Mel Gibson would be re-established enough to earn himself a prime role in a family-aimed comedy?  Whilst the controversial figure has been steadily working over the least few years, either headlining under-seen projects (Get The Gringo, Blood Father) or co-starring in ensemble pieces (Expendables 3, Machete Kills), it was his critically acclaimed turn behind the camera with last year’s Hacksaw Ridge that has seemingly voided his pariah status in the industry.... Film Review: Daddy’s Home (USA, 2015)

When it comes to reviewing a film like Daddy’s Home, one must take a moment to put things in context. You know from the outset – be it the trailer, the poster, the cast, the Director (Sean Anders, Horrible Bosses 2) or any of the other warning signs – that this is going to be a stupid comedy, offering nothing to the history of cinema but a couple of laughs and an excuse to turn your brain off for an hour and a half. And if that’s your sort of film – and there’s certainly nothing wrong with that – then you don’t need to read any reviews. You should go out, ignore the critics and just enjoy yourself. But for the rest of you, read on…... Continue Reading

Justin Bieber dies and Mugatu returns in the first official trailer for Zoolander 2

Some terrible madman is going around killing the world’s most beautiful people, including Usher and Justin Bieber, in Zoolander 2, forcing them to leave the world one last selfie with Derek Zoolander’s (Ben Stiller) signature look, Blue Steel. Such is life in the Zoolander universe as we once again take a close look at the life of a washed-up male model idiot, who must re-team with his BFF Hansel (Owen Wilson) and hot-therefore-trustworthy Penelope Cruz to infiltrate the fashion world and (probably) save the day. It’s all in this hilarious trailer full of spilled latte’s, Benedict Cumberbatch and Kristen Wiig, which has been released by Paramount Pictures today and is already sitting at over one million views on Youtube....
