Marvel’s Wolverine in development at Insomniac

Marvel’s Wolverine was just about the last thing we expected to see from Insomniac Games today.

The title was revealed during today’s PlayStation Showcase with a short cinematic teaser. We see Logan himself, alone at a bar with his back to the camera. A close up on his hand reveals bloody knuckles, suggesting he’s been in a fight. The familiar adamantium claws burst from between his fingers, confirming it is indeed who we think it is.

The trailer’s inclusion in the show was also a bit fakeout. Dropping the Insomniac logo at the top gave a clear impression we were about to see a Spider-Man trailer — which ultimately came later. The game’s reveal means that Insomniac are now in charge of Marvel’s two most enduringly popular characters.

Wolverine will be Insomniac’s third major title on the hop. Earlier this year, the studio launched Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. In November last year, it shipped Spider-Man: Miles Morales as a PS5 launch title. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also in development at the studio.

Marvel‘s Wolverine is developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is coming to PlayStation 5 and has no release date at this time.
