Telltale’s first Marvel adventure series is Guardians of the Galaxy

Telltale Games have announced their next episodic adventure series during The Game Awards 2016. Guardians of the Galaxy will be the company’s first foray into the Marvel universe.

The brief trailer (set to King Harvest’s 1972 pop hit “Dancing in the Moonlight”) released at the show only shows off the title treatment, which is Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series for those playing at home, and indicates that it will be a five episode season, as is the Telltale standard. Episode One is set to drop in 2017 on every console, mobile and PC known to human science.

“The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling,” said Telltale head Kevin Bruner in a post on the Telltale blog.

“In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”

No clear release window bas been annoucned as yet, but it would make sense for the game to drop some time around the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 in theatres in late April.

No voice cast has been confirmed as yet, so no word on whether the film’s stars, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Karen Gillan, will reprise their roles.
