Inside Out

Inside Out, Pixar’s latest emotion-packed fare, stars comedy powerhouse Amy Poehler. Riley is a ten-year-old girl whose life is ruled by Joy (Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Fear (Bill Hader), and Disgust (Mindy Kaling). Packed full of heart, Inside Out will strike a chord with anyone who remembers going through an emotional upheaval, and is a great film for kids and adults alike.

ORPHAN BLACK, SEASONS 1-3

Tatiana Maslany is perhaps the most criminally underrated actress working in Hollywood. Here she stars as not one, not two, but seven different clones, whose lives intersect in one way or another as they attempt to dodge the Dyad Institute, who are more concerned with testing the girls than taking care of them. With stellar supporting performances by Jordan Gavaris, Ari Millen and Maria Doyle Kennedy, Orphan Black is one of the best sci-fi shows in recent years, with a phenomenal lead actress who is destined for big things.

TRAINWRECK

It’s certainly been Amy Schumer‘s year. Trainwreck thrust her into the spotlight, and so it should have; the film is a funny and honest look at relationships from many perspectives. Amy (Schumer) is a monogamy-fearing writer who meets her match in Aaron (Bill Hader), a sports surgeon who she is tasked to interview. Schumer finds the right mixture of wit, vulgarity, and heart in this film, which has set her on a course to stardom.
