Australian actor Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Warcraft) has made multiple appearances in New York in support of Maggie’s Plan: a modern, romantic comedy to be released by Sony Pictures Classics.
Maggie’s Plan is also set to screen at this year’s Sydney Film Festival.
Fimmel joined writer-director Rebecca Miller along with co-stars Ethan Hawke, Greta Gerwig and Oscar winner Julianne Moore for the premiere of the film in New York this evening after stopping by AOL Studios for the AOL Speaker Series. Fimmel described his character Guy as quirky, and despite having only a few scenes alongside Gerwig, was praised for making an impact in the film.
Miller said the witty comedy was rooted in character and truthfulness while Ethan Hawke said working on a movie directed by a woman that had a strong female voice was exciting. Julianne Moore described her cast mates as gifted and interesting, praising Miller for being a positive and encouraging director.
Fimmel also attended the Apple Store Meet The Filmmaker event in Soho with Miller and Gerwig yesterday to discuss Maggie’s Plan, that opens in New York and Los Angeles on May 20.
The actor returns to Australia next month to attend Supanova Expo in Sydney and Perth where he will mingle with Aussie fans and participate in Q&A panels right after the release of fantasy epic Warcraft that opens in Australia on June 16.
