Vivid Sydney and the 61st Sydney Film Festival have announced a special panel discussion titled ‘Inside The Rover‘ to celebrate the release of David Michôd’s The Rover, his first film since 2010’s searing Aussie crime masterpiece Animal Kingdom. Michôd will be joined by stars Guy Pearce (Animal Kingdom, Prometheus) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Cosmopolis), as well as producer Liz Watts. The film, which was filmed in South Australia and just screened to rave reviews at Cannes, depicts a bleak and violent post-apocalyptic Australia in which Pearce and Pattinson’s characters struggle to survive.
The Rover is screening as part of the Official Competition selection at the Sydney Film Festival, with its Australian premiere at the State Theatre on Saturday June 7th at 7pm and a second screening on Sunday June 8 at 11.30am. The Vivid Sydney panel discussion will take place on Sunday June 8th at 3pm in Syndey’s Town Hall and will be moderated by legendary film critic Margaret Pomeranz.
Vivid Sydney is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest festival of light, music and ideas, which runs for 18 days from May 23rd to June 9th. The festival is in its sixth year and features large scale light installations and projections, music performances and collaborations, and creative ideas, discussion and debate, all celebrating Sydney as the creative hub of the Asia-Pacific.
